Join ACTT on May 28th to learn about the Maine Transactive Energy Pilot!

Incentives available for participants in the pilot.

Join A Climate to Thrive and the Post Road Foundation on Wednesday, May 28th, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Northeast Harbor Library to learn about an exciting opportunity to participate in the Maine Transactive Energy Pilot (MTEP) developed by the Post Road Foundation. Participants in the pilot will play an important role in supporting the transition to a renewably powered grid and will receive incentives for participation. Join us on the 28th to learn about the pilot and the importance of demand management.

ACTT is partnering with the Post Road Foundation to bring the Maine Transactive Energy Pilot to fruition. This pilot project focuses on demand management technology for homeowners; an essential part of a successful transition to renewable energy. Participants in the pilot will have the opportunity to pair existing technology - such as heat pumps, smart thermostats, heat pump hot water heaters, EVs, and batteries - with technology that communicates with the paired devices to balance demand.

Participants who decide to enroll in MTEP will receive a $200 incentive as a thank-you for joining the pilot, a $100 incentive payment for annual participation, and up to $900 per year per device (based on device type, size, participant responsive setting and grid conditions). Participants also have the option to withdraw from the program at any time. Join us next Wednesday to learn more!

Demand management is a critical part of the clean energy transition because it helps align energy use with renewable energy production, which fluctuates based on weather. Managing demand management also reduces the need for additional grid infrastructure as we electrify our heating and transportation. During the event, attendees will learn about some of the challenges Maine’s electric grid is facing today, how those challenges are anticipated to change, and how demand management is a critical part of the solution.

Experts from the Post Road Foundation will discuss how current devices, like heat pumps, hot water heaters, and EVs, can help manage grid stress and mitigate rising electricity costs. They will also discuss the exciting launch of MTEP and outline the details of participation.

"Maine’s electric grid is stressed, and electricity is becoming increasingly more expensive, trends that are likely to accelerate nationwide as heating and transportation is electrified and more energy is used for AI,” said Seth Hoedl of the Post Road Foundation, “MTEP will demonstrate how building loads can help manage this stress to lower energy costs, reduce pollution, and support Maine’s electric grid.”

This event is proudly brought to you by A Climate to Thrive in collaboration with the Post Road Foundation. Don’t miss this opportunity to be at the forefront of energy innovation in Maine!
