Energy Coaching
ACTT will be training a first cohort of Energy Coaches in January 2026 and begin supporting homeowners in March! Please see below for pathways to express interest, either in serving as a coach or for services as a homeowner.
Whether you’re interested in reducing your energy bills, making your home warmer, being prepared for power outages, exploring solar and batteries, or simply learning more about how to make your home more energy efficient, ACTT’s Energy Coaching Program is here to help.
What is Energy Coaching?
This program is rooted in community connection and collaboration. By connecting neighbors with trusted guidance, our program aims to help residents understand their energy use and identify practical steps to lower energy costs and improve comfort. ACTT’s Energy Coaching Program pairs trained community volunteers (coaches) with households to help residents:
Understand their current energy use and identify opportunities for improvements.
Navigate available supports like incentives, rebates, and other programs that make upgrades more affordable.
Understand the process of working with contractors.
Build confidence in making energy decisions that align with household needs.
Information for interested volunteers
We welcome volunteers who are interested in supporting their fellow community members in increasing home comfort and reducing energy costs while also lowering the emissions associated with heating and cooling homes. Training is provided, and no prior experience is required, just a commitment to learning and helping others. Click here to express your interest in becoming an energy coach.
Once energy coaches have completed all three parts of the initial training, they will begin supporting homeowners, with ACTT’s support. Monthly meetings and ongoing training will also be part of the program, as we build a local community of coaches supporting homeowners and each other.
If you are interested in learning more and potentially becoming an Energy Coach, contact Beth Woolfolk at beth@aclimatetothrive.org.
Information for Homeowners
ACTT’s Energy Coaching Program will launch in February 2026.
Homeowners interested in learning more when the program opens can fill out this interest form. When the program opens, the trained coaches will contact interested homeowners to fill out an intake form and schedule a home visit.
During the home visit, the coaches will discuss your goals and look at key areas of your home (like your basement) to help you assess which upgrades, contractors and rebates/financing options are available to help you achieve your needs.
After the home visit, our coaches will develop and send you a report with recommendations, suggested next steps and resources tailored to your goals.
Our coaches will be available to you after you receive your report if you would like assistance reviewing contractor proposals or navigating rebates and financing options. We know home upgrades can be overwhelming, and we are here to help.
Why pursue energy solutions for a home, business, or organization?
Improve comfort. Efficiency projects, including weatherization and air sealing, can improve the comfort of your home by eliminating drafts and allowing your heating system to work more efficiently.
Take advantage of rebates. Efficiency Maine Trust offers a significant amount of money to help homes and businesses undertake upgrades to use energy more efficiently and get solar.
Save money. Energy efficiency projects and solar can often save significant money over time by reducing energy costs.
Weatherization: Weatherization makes your home or business healthier, more comfortable and more energy-efficient to heat, with Efficiency Maine rebates that cover between 50% and 90% of project costs.
Heat Pumps: Keep your home comfortable year-round without relying on dirty, increasingly expensive fuel oil by switching to heat pumps.
Solar Power: A rooftop array harnesses free energy from the sun to power your home and helps bring our community closer to energy independence.
Other Solutions: From super-efficient induction stoves to low-flow showerheads, there’s a building solution for every space and situation. If you’re a business owner, a renter, a homeowner, or a seasonal resident, no matter your income, join us to explore steps you can take to making your space more efficient, comfortable, and climate-friendly!
